Band Organ Rally To Help Merry-Go-Round Museum celebrate 20 Years July 17-18
SANDUSKY, OH – Carousel Organ Association of America members will be visiting Sandusky, Ohio, July 17-18, 2010 celebrating the “Happiest Music on Earth.".
More than 40 band organs are expected to pump up the volume in Washington Park and at the Merry-Go-Round Museum. Band organ collectors from all over the Midwest will spread throughout the downtown for this rally. The carousel history museum is providing support services for the visitors.
 Band organs large and small will fill Sandusky with happy music.
As part of the Merry-Go-Round Museum’s 20th anniversary celebration, the newest exhibit, Wild!,
is open for the summer season. For the July 17-18 anniversary
celebration, there will be free admission to the museum, with $1
carousel rides offered throughout the day.
“During the past years the Merry-Go-Round Museum has enjoyed a
reputation for intriguing exhibits,” said Veronica Vanden Bout,
executive director. “Wild! only enhances that position. Plus is there
anything better on a summer day than taking a ride on the carousel?”
This exhibit features artifacts from the past twenty years of the
museum’s history, with a focus on the rarest carousel animals. Art from
several private collections, including the nationally renowned
Charlotte Dinger Collection will be at the museum through December
2011.
“Why just look at horses when there are so many other menagerie
carousel animals carved?” said Kurri Lewis, the museum’s curator. “It’s
fun to see all the imaginative pieces wood carvers have created.”
While the museum is open throughout the year, summer hours are 10 – 5
pm Monday through Saturday, 12 – 5 on Sunday from Memorial Day until
Labor Day. Admission: Adults $5; Seniors $4; Children $3. Carousel ride
is included with admission to the museum.

Enjoy the tastes of summer and Ohio’s own Wine Coast on Saturday,
August 13th for the Toast of Ohio Wine Festival in downtown Sandusky.
This event benefits the Merry-Go-Round Museum and the Sandusky Maritime
Museum. Music, wine and food tastings, artists demonstrations, and more
will happen from 11 am to 8 pm. Contact the Sandusky/Erie County

The 15th annual Woodcarvers Show is scheduled for Saturday, September
11th at the museum. More than 20 woodcarvers will demonstrate their art
and creations from 10 am to 5 pm. Admission to the museum is free, with
$1 carousel rides offered all day.
