Carousel Miniature Convention To Flint, MI (1:00AM)
Flint, MI – Carousel Modelers and Miniature Association 2012 Convention. The Carousel Modelers and Miniature Assoc. (CMMA) will hold its annual convention in Flint, MI, this year on the weekend of June 2. Last year's convention was at the quaint Tuscora Park in Ohio. Flint, Michigan was host to the second NCA Convention back in the early 1970s. The 3-row C. W. Parker carousel at Crossroads Village will turn 100 years old this season. About the Carousel Modelers and Miniature Association - CMMAThe Carousel Modelers and Miniatures Association (CMMA) has been reorganized. The CMMA was founded in 1986 for the purpose of bringing together modelers, miniaturists and woodcarvers interested in building operating miniature carousels. CMMA membership includes the quarterly publication, Horse Tales, a membership directory and the hobby’s greatest fellowship. The CMMA is now accepting 2012 memberships. Membership dues are $20 per year. Checks or money orders should be made out to the CMMA and sent to the CMMA secretary-treasurer, Pat Wentzel. Medieval Vendors Needed For Herschell Carousel Museum Craft Fair (11:00AM - 6:00PM)
No. Tonawanda, NY. The Herschell Carrousel Factory Museum is seeking artisans and crafters who wish to sell their creations at “The Brass Ring Thing XII”-a Renaissance Festival to be held on Saturday, June 2nd from 11AM-6 PM . Hand made jewelry, wooden articles, laces, knitting, crochet, candles, and herbs are examples of appropriate items for sale. Vendors are requested to register before the event by calling the museum at 693-1885 for a registration form. The booth fee is $20. Members of the Society for Creative Anachronism pay $10 with ID card. Vendors supply their own table and cover. The museum supplies the space and promotion. Faire-goers will enjoy a day of swashbuckling sword duels, dangerously accurate knife and axe throwers, gentle lords, beautiful ladies, medieval songsters, and skillful jugglers. Admission is $5 for adults and $3 for children ages 2 –12. For an additional $5 guests may purchase an unlimited game bracelet which includes catapults, castle bounce, dragon swing, pillow joust, rat pucking, sheep throwing, dragon spears and more! There will also be artisan demonstrations, silent and theme tray auctions, and food and beverages available for purchase. Knoebel's Grove Amusement Park Organ Rally (10:00AM)
Elysburg, PA – Knoebel’s Band Organ Rally. Enjoy Knoebel's great line up of band organs, as well as the dozens of visiting music machines. The Knoebel Family and Mark Chester, Rally Host, invite you to gather at America's finest traditional amusement park for a fun-filled organ rally. Nestled in a wooded valley in the foothills of Central Pennsylvania, Knoebels Amusement Resort offers family-oriented entertainment under the canopy of trees that first brought folks to the area. Free parking, free admission and free entertainment are hallmarks of Knoebels hospitality. In addition, they will treat registered Rally guests to their delicious signature barbecued chicken dinner on Saturday. Berkshire Carousel Project Hosts Illions B&W Art Auction (6:00PM)
Pittsfield, MA. Black & White Show Auction - Illions Art. The Berkshire Carousel project is pleased to sponsor a unique art fundraiser on Friday June 22, 2012. This event is a "Black & White Show" featuring limited edition prints of the works of carousel artist, the late "Barney" (Bernard Joseph) Illions, youngest son of famed carver Marcus Charles Illions. Barney mostly painted horses for his father and older brothers carved. Later in his career, Barney branched into oil painting and Chines calligraphy. The works of art were donated by Jayne Pearl, a volunteer for Berkshire Carousel, whose grandfather was first cousin to Marcus Charles Illions. (Or, Jayne's mother, Shirley Illions Perle, was Barney's second cousin.) The paintings were gifts from Barney's estate to Janey. Samples of the Illions prints can be seen at at http://www.berkshirecarousel.com/Berkshire_Carousel/Illions_Artwork.html. In addition, black and white painted works by the Berkshire Carousel artists, (responsible for the panels on the community carousel), will also be displayed and available at the auction that begins at 8 pm. At 6 pm wine tasting and showing of the art will be included for the $15 per person admission. The Black & White Show Auction will be held at the Berkshire Carousel workshop in the Berkshire Mall between Rtes 7 and 8 in Lanesborough, MA.
