Step Back in Time With a Carousel Ride at Willowbrook Museum Village in Maine

You can now ride the steam-driven 1894 Armitage-Herschell carousel at Willowbrook Museum Village in Maine on select days each month throughout the season through October.

This very rare, antique 1894 Armitage-Herschell merry-go-round only operates for the public on select days each month.  According the the museum's calendar, your last chance for this rare carousel experience this season will be on Saturday, Aug. 23; Saturday, Sept. 27; and on Saturday, Oct. 11.

This carousel is reported to be one of the more complete Armitage-Herschell machines still in operation and is accompanied by the original steam engine and ticket booth, (as well as the original ticket stamp and tickets).  There is also a DeKleist-Limonaire band organ.

The Willowbrook Museum Village in Newfield, Maine, is an escape to the country and a chance to experience 19th century Yankee ingenuity at its best.

Two historic houses and their barns, a reproduction schoolhouse and bandstand, and a millpond grace the restored country village as well as a country store. There are also horse-drawn sleighs and carriages, an 1849 Concord stagecoach and various trades shops; a blacksmith, a broom maker, a canoe builder, a cooper, a cobbler, a harness maker, a printer, a wheelwright, a woodworker and more to help you enjoy your step back in time.

Plan to spend a few hours once you arrive and bring a picnic to enjoy lunch on site or you can buy lunch on site at the sandwich shop and grab desert at their old fashioned ice cream parlor.
